I am the owner and managing director of Information Automation Limited (IAL), a company that specialises in research, consultancy and training for the information profession. We are particularly interested in all forms of electronic information resources (e-journals, e-books, etc) and I teach a course in electronic publishing at the Department of Information Studies in Aberystwyth. Drilling down still further(!), my interests centre on the quality and evaluation of electronic information, and in the thinking that underpins activities in library and information science.

More on e-books and e-book readers

I came across a new and interesting blog this morning - in fact I was directed to it by Chark Blog - that deals, specifically, with ebooks. TeleRead: Bringing the E-Books Home is authored (mostly) by David Rothman, and there is now a permanent link in my BlogRoll. The blog has been around for a long time (and I should have found it before!) but the current focus on e-books seems to go back only to about 2002.

The latest entry is a kind of review of the Sony Reader, set out as 'Reasons for not Buying' and some 'key questions for e-books in June 2007'. There are references to existing readers (iRex iLiad) and possibly-soon-to-be-launched readers, scattered along the way. I think the points made are very fair and, it has to be said, that the iLiad comes off well by comparison.

    Certainly, a blog worth watching!
