I am the owner and managing director of Information Automation Limited (IAL), a company that specialises in research, consultancy and training for the information profession. We are particularly interested in all forms of electronic information resources (e-journals, e-books, etc) and I teach a course in electronic publishing at the Department of Information Studies in Aberystwyth. Drilling down still further(!), my interests centre on the quality and evaluation of electronic information, and in the thinking that underpins activities in library and information science.

e-books - blooks: a route to informal publishing

One of the posts on this blog triggered an a-mail from an author with details of his use of a blog to write short stories - an e-book published chapter by chapter on a blog ... a blook. I was already aware of Richard Poynder's use of a blog to create a blook on open access: Open and Shut, but now we have fiction blooks as well. L Lee Lowe's Into the Lowelands currently contains three short stories. the latest, 'noise', is quite disturbing - good but not an easy read.
