I am the owner and managing director of Information Automation Limited (IAL), a company that specialises in research, consultancy and training for the information profession. We are particularly interested in all forms of electronic information resources (e-journals, e-books, etc) and I teach a course in electronic publishing at the Department of Information Studies in Aberystwyth. Drilling down still further(!), my interests centre on the quality and evaluation of electronic information, and in the thinking that underpins activities in library and information science.

    Welcome to iNG

I have to confess that this is something of an experiment - perhaps all new blogs are. I wanted to develop a blog, and decided that it would be interesting to set up a forum where information professionals (and others!) could discuss current issues, evolve new ideas, comment on old ideas, and generally kick around some thoughts on all things relating to library (I still include the L word!) and information science, knowledge management, content and/or collection management, information architecture, electronic resources (use, development, issues), and so on.
I am trying for a fairly broad landscape with no artificial boundaries; I have been consulting, researching, training and teaching in this area for over 25 years and I think that I have a reasonably catholic view of our industry ... so lets see what transpires.
If that all sounds too over-blown, I guess this is where you tell me so!
